The visa policy of the United Kingdom is the policy by which the UK government determines who may and may not enter the country. The same visa policy also applies to Guernsey, Jersey and Isle of Man. Visitors must obtain a visa unless they are exempt. While the UK is a member of the European Union, it has an opt-out from the Schengen border-free area and it maintains its own visa policy and a Common Travel Area with the Republic of Ireland.
